W. A. “AP” Penn is a children’s fantasy author whose stories are shaped by a lifetime of service, leadership, and learning. A Disabled Veteran of the United States Air Force, A.P. served in a Special Forces unit, was injured in the line of duty, and was awarded two Presidential Citations with three Gold Clusters for his role in guarding the President of the United States. He carries the values of courage, integrity, and unity into every tale he writes.
Before becoming an author, AP built a distinguished career as a business executive, serving as CEO, founder, and board member across multiple organizations. He also worked in the financial sector as a licensed Stock Broker (Series 7 and 63), helping individuals and organizations navigate complex financial decisions.
AP holds a Juris Doctorate and was a State Licensed

Supreme Court Mediator, a role that strengthened his understanding of communication, empathy, and conflict resolution — qualities that now enrich the emotional depth of his characters.
With more than fourteen years of experience as an adjunct professor,
AP has taught business law, accounting, computer science, English, international business, and risk management. His broad academic background allows him to write stories that are imaginative yet grounded, offering young readers gentle lessons about courage, friendship, and community.
Today, AP is best known for creating the magical world of Walnut Valley, where Spanky Starfern and her woodland friends show young readers that together, no matter who you are, is how every story grows.
